Breast Cancer Awareness
According to recent studies in ethnically diverse urban areas, various
minority population segments, specifically Asian & African women in
America have a fast rising incidence of Breast Cancer.
These women commonly have low breast cancer incidence rates in their
home countries, & experience increasing rates of breast cancer after
immigrating to the United States.
We believe that, through proactive programs consisting of awareness,
early self and clinical detection and screening we can make an impact
to reduce the breast cancer incidence rates amongst these vulnerable communities
HIV/AIDS Awareness & Prevention
Recent HIV/AIDS studies show evidence that HIV prevalence (the # of people
living with HIV/AIDS) increased 11% from 2003 to 2006. This increase is
due to the fact that improvements in anti-retroviral treatment have greatly
extended the lifespan of people with HIV, because more people become infected
than die from the disease each year.
Whereas the treatment options and improvements have served to reduce the
mortality rates, this new trend creates a strong case for ongoing monitoring
and awareness campaigns, to aggressively reduce the rate of new infections.
